Roll up shutters

Roll up shutters are possibly

the most convenient of shutters.

They roll up and down.

They are used mainly for storm

protection, but are also used for

privacy and shade and security.

They also help to sound proof

your home.

These can be operated

manually, or can be motorized.

Most roll up shutter systems can

be operated by remote control.

Accordion Shutters

Accordion shutters are the

most popular choice of shutters.

These are very convenient to

open and close (from side to side)

They are economical and

affordable.

Their main function is storm

protection. But they are also used

for privacy and security.

Accordion Shutters come in different colors:

White, Beige, Ivory and Bronze.

Any other color is a custom color

and is an extra charge.

Storm panels

Storm panels are extremely

affordable. Any family on a very

tight budget should get these.

The only downside to storm

panels is that they need to be put

up and take down before and after

each storm.

Some home owners leave them

up for the season. But this is both

tacky and dangerous (no egress).

They come in aluminum (light

weight) and steel (heavy and

dangerous to manipulate.

Bahamas

Bahama shutters are very popular

in Florida and The Bahamas as

well as many Caribbean islands.

We get many requests for these

for export.

These come in various custom

colors. Some are decorative and

some are impact (hurricane) rated.

Colonial Bahamas

These are also very popular

in Florida and The Islands of The Bahamas. They are made  decorative or impact for the High Velocity Zone.

Thus, they're impact rated.

Screen Enclosures

In South Florida we are blessed

with sunny skies and warm

weather most of the year.

But bugs are a continuous

problem, especially during the

rainy season ( spring thruough

early fall).

Screen enclosures allow us

to reclaim our patio spaces from

not just the bugs and small

animals, but the elements.

These are moderately priced.

We have done thousands of

these.

South Florida Screen Enclosures are

made of durable structural aluminum

which is light weight and relatively

inexpensive.

The aluminum alloy used for Screen

frames is also used in the Manufacture of window frames. The alloy has been

approved in Miami Dade County, which

has the toughest Wind Codes in the U.S.

The engineering is done in job to job

basis. But such is based on a "Spec

sheet", which basically mandates how

such are supposed to be engineered

and installed.

Aluminum roofs

and screen porches

Aluminum roofs are an

economical solution to patio

additions, as well as car ports.

These outlast traditional wood

and shingle roofs and cost a

fraction of the price.

Aluminum roofs are insulated to keep

the heat away from you. A regular

aluminum roof will get very hot underneath. Servicing these are a real pain. They usually leak and are too weak to support the weight of

someone on top trying to effect

repairs.

You can actually step on an insulated aluminum roof as it's structurally sound.

Fans can also be suspended and add cooling comfort.

They allow you to claim unusable patio space and entertain guests

without having them track all over

the inside of your house.

Pet doors can be added for your dog or cat.

Insulated aluminum roofs cost more than the regular "tin pan" looking roof, but they'll pay off in the long

run.

Impact glass:

We don't do a lot of Impact glass and only offer it because in some cases

an accordion shutter, roll up shutter or storm panel is impossible to install.

Coral Gables in South Florida has homes that pose this challenge.

Building and Zoning, for example, seems to "hate" accordion shutters in the front of the house. Zoning prefers that you install impact glass, as it doesn't "destroy" the look.

Other times the opening just makes it

impossible to practically install an

accordion, roll up shutter or storm panel.
