On our economic crisis 

 Times are very tough for us economically, not just in USA, but also internationally. I don't have to give you all the facts. I'm sure you have kept abreast of this, not just from the papers, but the bombardment of bad news from the T.V.

As a concerned business owner I have some suggestions that I hope you find helpful:

1. Stop listening to the bad news: If you can't fix government or Wall Street, why punish your self with this torture? You will experience great relief if you just don't watch the news or buy newspapers.

2.  Let's do what the last generation did: work hard, be ethical, friugal and get off this bogus credit addiction. Only buy things cash and use your credit cards  when absolutely necessary. I will not pressure you to buy our products on credit if you won't be able to keep up the payments. Use your credit cards wisely. If you can keep up the payments, or better yet, pay them in full when or before the bill is due, then do so.

3. Get productive. have you wondered what is the true cause of this economic mess: Greedy wall Street, A terrible President, The Sub-prime Mortgage Mess?

Yes. All of the above. But when you really look at this a little closer, this mess is a direct result of lazy and greedy quick buck artists who were very busy speculating in the future, while neglecting to stick to traditional work ethics such as: Hard work, high ethical standards and giving something for something (proper exchange). The real successful business or person, took it up a notch and exchanged in abundance. If you paid for a pencil, maybe you'd get 2.

This is no mystery. Some of us may have forgotten how just good old fashioned values have gotten us through hard times and made us prosper like no other nation on earth. The depression was a hard lesson. But we got through it didn't we?  And it wasn't really the Government, It was Madison avenue, Bing Crosby, Thomas Salva Edison’s' legacy of American ingenuity and sweat equity, etc.

4. Don't look at the government for answers. They don't have them.

I know it's a hell of a thing to say. But all of the answers are in you. You already know them. Tap your potential, search your conscience and stop falling for this false concept of "easy money". There is no such thing. Yes, there maybe a lucky few like Bill Gates, Jimmy Buffet, etc. But even these people have done something right to get where they are today. And they didn't get there overnight. Instead of wasting time listening to the news, buy a good inspirational book, such as a success story from one of your favorite figures. Go back to school and learn computers, if that's what you like and would make your work easier.  Learn a new trade and get good at it if your current one is a dead end. Deliver the Yellow Pages. Do something! The worst thing you can do is NOTHING!

5. Dump your ugly negative friends, who instead of giving you support and answers, sap your strength and make you feel drained. Get new positive ones. Here's a great link that I love and get inspired by: http://www.forbetterlife.org/

6. Get on a budget:  Do financial planning. If you were making $5,000 a month, but are now making only $3,000. Does it make sense to spend like before? If you're self employed, like I am, do an average figure out of your income, by going back 16 weeks and listing how much you made each week. Add these up. Then start cutting back on expenses:
If you were eating out 6 days a week. Stop! eat ou once if you can and pack lunc and dinner if you can.
If you have 2 cars, but can get by with just 1, do so.
If the husband or the wife is addicted to credit cards. Cancel them!.
You get the picture: Re-organize your life and change your spending patterns: If the old way got you into trouble, change it!

7. Make more money: This latter one is the most difficult for us to confront, but the most important. Sorry to have to say this, but our modern society's fuel is money, not oil.

 Here you need to get creative, and that's an understatement:
How many ways can you promote your service or product for free or at low cost? Make a list and start doing so.
What old skills can you put to use and offer them?
How many relatives or friends owe you money? Don't be shy, or cruel, but start collecting. It's your money!
